DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
The DR Congo Public Health Project provides medical care for those in need, supports malnourished children and their families, and trains local health workers with lifesaving skills to improve care across communities. Our three key objectives are:
- Patient Care: Gifts help cover hospital stays, medications, lab tests, surgeries, and the purchase of equipment and supplies within the DR Congo Covenant Church medical system for patients who cannot afford care.
- Nutrition Support: Funds assist severely malnourished children and their families during hospitalization—covering food, medicine, and specialized equipment to support recovery.
- Clinical Training: Training for Congolese doctors and nurses in proven protocols—Helping Babies Breathe, Essential Care for Every Baby, Helping Mothers Survive Postpartum Hemorrhage, plus management of severe dehydration and pediatric hypoglycemia. Funds cover transportation, lodging, and meals as our nurses travel to the American Baptist Church region to teach and mentor peers. In Phase II, we’ll also introduce Kangaroo Mother Care for low-birthweight infants.
